I have bad credit. I have already consulted a “professinal credit counseler” but got a half ass response. I am not ready to pay additional money to have someone else fix my problem. I have had bad credit for about 2+ years now. I used to have decent credit. It is estimated that I have around $20,000 owed. I would like to do this myself and contact the creditors, collectors and banks myself. I just want to know what would be the right approach so that they get paid and my credit report will show that I have made and effort to do the rigth thing? I have a family and would like to buy a house one day. I also want to go into law enforcement. So credit is important to me. Any advice would help. Thanks

The situation seems a little unfair to me. I find myself trying to find a decent job that will pay me enough to meet my monthly obligations and make some headway in cleaning up my credit. The problem is that those jobs tend to disqualify applicants with bad credit. I’m not sure what to do about it. Can anyone offer any advice?

Well for all of you who are giving me hard time. I am just wondering if I should wait a bit longer to marry the guy. Since I have been with him he has had several credit problems and has had creditors calling him. I know that he is trying to work up his credit score now but he just does not manage his money well at all. I have an excelet credit score of 768 and I was just wondering if I should wait for him to get himself together.
